Field guide Nº 03 · Retell AICSV batch call or API

Send AutoAI Lead leads to a Retell AI phone agent.

Upload a CSV as a Retell batch call, or have each new lead trigger a call through Zapier, Make or n8n.

Heads-up: AutoAI Lead doesn’t make phone calls and doesn’t include voice agents. This guide shows how to send your AutoAI Lead leads to a voice agent you set up, and pay for, in your own Retell AI account. Retell AI is a separate product with its own pricing and terms.

Sheet B · What you needBefore you start

Pack list

  • A Retell account. Testing in the browser is free; a payment method is needed to buy a number[1]
  • A Retell-managed or imported phone number, with your agent bound to it as the Outbound Agent[2]
  • A Retell API key (for the API route)[2]
  • AutoAI Lead: CSV export (any plan) or webhook (Pro Agency or Scale)

Good to know

  • Retell-managed numbers are US and Canada only. For other countries, connect your own telephony provider (custom telephony)[1]
  • The API reference notes that calls from a Retell-purchased number support US destinations only; check current country coverage before a campaign[4]
  • Dynamic variable values must be strings, so send a rating of 4.9 as "4.9"[5]
  • AutoAI Lead’s webhook can’t call Retell’s API directly; an automation tool sits in between.
Sheet A · The AutoAI Lead sideWhat leaves the app

Three ways leads leave AutoAI Lead (all verified in the app).

  • GoHighLevel export (Pro Agency and Scale): creates or updates the contact in your own GHL sub-account, with tags, a note containing the demo link and messages, and optionally an opportunity in the pipeline you pick. Set it up in Ajustes → Integraciones (Settings → Integrations).
  • Signed webhook (Pro Agency and Scale): every exported lead is sent as flat JSON by POST to the https URL you enter, for example a Zapier, Make or n8n webhook. It’s signed with the header X-AutoLead-Signature: sha256=… (HMAC-SHA256 with your secret). Scale can send every new lead automatically.
  • CSV export (all plans): download your leads as a spreadsheet. Columns are in Spanish: Negocio, Nicho, Ciudad, Direccion, Telefono, Email, Google Maps URL, Rating, Estado Web, …

Webhook fields (partial list) Example values

Before using demo_site_url in a call script or SMS, open one to confirm it loads. Phone numbers arrive as listed on Google, so convert them to E.164 (for example +13055550123) when the voice platform requires it.

Sheet D · Set up Retell2 stops

Build the agent and give it a number.

  1. Create an agent

    Open the Agents tab, click Create an agent and choose Single prompt. Build from scratch, pick a template, or use Generate from prompt[1]. Personalize with variables like {{business_name}}[5]. Click Test to talk to it in the browser[1].

    Example prompt line “You’re calling {{business_name}} in {{city}}. They have a {{rating}}-star Google rating but no website…”

  2. Buy a number and bind the agent

    In Phone Numbers, click Buy New Number, add a payment method if asked, and assign your agent[1]. Make sure it’s set as the Outbound Agent for that number[2].

Sheet E · Getting leads inPick one

Two ways to get leads into Retell.

Route 1 · CSV (any AutoAI Lead plan)

CSV export → Retell batch call

  1. Export the CSV from AutoAI Lead.
  2. Rename Telefono to phone number (the column Retell requires), in E.164. Rename the others you want as variables, for example Negocio → business_name. Every non-reserved column becomes a dynamic variable[3].
  3. In the Batch Call tab, click Create Batch Call, name it, select the From Number (bound to your agent), upload the CSV, set the time window and reserved concurrency, then choose Send Now or Schedule[3].
Route 2 · Webhook + automation (Pro Agency or Scale)

AutoAI Lead webhook → Zapier / Make / n8n → Retell API

  1. Create a webhook catcher: Zapier Webhooks by Zapier → Catch Hook[6], a Make Custom webhook[7], or an n8n Webhook node[8]. Copy its URL.
  2. Paste it as the webhook URL in AutoAI Lead (Ajustes → Integraciones) and send a test lead.
  3. Convert phone to E.164 and every variable to text.
  4. POST to Retell’s Create Phone Call endpoint[4]:
POST https://api.retellai.com/v2/create-phone-call
Authorization: Bearer YOUR_RETELL_API_KEY
Content-Type: application/json

{
  "from_number": "+14155550100",
  "to_number": "+13055550123",
  "override_agent_id": "YOUR_AGENT_ID",
  "retell_llm_dynamic_variables": {
    "business_name": "Smile Dental Studio",
    "city": "Miami",
    "rating": "4.9"
  }
}

Example Keep your Retell API key in the automation tool, never in AutoAI Lead or a public page. Retell’s docs also link a Make.com example for triggering outbound calls[2].

Sheet C · Before you dialRules of the road

Automated AI calls are regulated.

Laws on automated and AI-voice calls (consent, calling hours, opt-outs, do-not-call lists) depend on the country and state you call. You’re responsible for following them; AutoAI Lead and the voice platforms don’t check consent for you. This isn’t legal advice; check the rules where your leads are located.
